A fully funded PhD scholarship is currently available for a student with a interest in both organic synthesis and materials chemistry. The goal of this project is to chemically functionalise cellulose with organic molecules to impart tunable amphiphilic properties. This will be developed into a new class of cellulose-based surfactants that are biodegradable and recoverable from industrial waste streams.
During the course of the project, the student will gain skills in organic synthesis and the characterisation of new materials (e.g. using TEM, SEM, Raman)
We are looking for the student to start as soon as possible, so applications will be assessed as they are received.
The scholarship includes a stipend of NZD $27,500 net per year for 3 years. The scholarship also covers all fees for 3 years.
If interested, send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with your CV, a brief cover letter and an academic transcript (if available)
